How to Display and Care for Your Anime Figures

Sunlight, dust and heat are a figure’s worst enemies. Here’s how to keep your collection looking its best for years.

6 min read Independent guide

A figure collection is an investment of money and space, and a little care keeps it looking great. These are the basics every collector should know.

Keep them out of direct sunlight

UV light is the biggest long-term threat: it fades paint and can yellow plastic over time, especially lighter colors. Display figures away from windows and direct sun.

Manage dust

Dust builds up quickly on detailed figures. Enclosed display cases greatly reduce cleaning, and a soft brush or blower helps for open shelves. Avoid harsh cleaners on painted surfaces.

Watch heat and humidity

Heat can warp or soften PVC, and very humid conditions aren’t ideal either. Keep figures away from heaters, hot electronics and damp areas.

Handling and assembly

  • Handle figures by the base or sturdy areas, not by thin, fragile parts.
  • Follow included instructions for attaching parts to avoid stress fractures.
  • Keep boxes and inserts if you may move or resell later.

With sunlight, dust and heat under control, most figures hold up beautifully for many years.
